Design Your Dreams
Are you ready to make your mark on the landscape around you? Imagine your pride and excitement from seeing a building rise up from the ground, knowing you’d contributed to its creation. That’s what the Architectural Drafting and Design program is all about. It’s the intentional merging of abstract ideas with the expertise of engineering and design to bring what was once a vision into reality.
At South Central College, you’ll gain the understanding and technical skills needed to work as part of a team alongside architects, engineers and planners. You’ll study commercial design, 3D modeling and drafting in the following areas: Architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural.
The Architectural Drafting and Design program at SCC can now also function as a Pre-Architecture program, thanks to an existing articulation agreement between South Central College and Dunwoody College of Technology. After earning an associate’s degree in Architectural Drafting & Design at South Central College, you can apply to the Dunwoody Architecture program. If accepted, your SCC credits will go toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at Dunwoody. Continuing on for a Bachelor’s Degree requires an additional three years of study and allows you the opportunity to become a licensed Architect.
South Central College Credentials:
The need for Architectural Drafters is expected to remain steady through 2021.

“The Architectural Drafting and Design program is great! We work on “real-world” projects that are very practical for showing in our personal portfolios we put together. Also, the instructor is very supportive in helping us find a job before and after graduation, as well as working with each of his students individually so we can succeed in this amazing career while finishing out our degrees.”
“As I journey through the Architectural Drafting and Design program, I continually increase my love of the profession. I started out not knowing the difference between a section cut and a plan view. Now I’m creating building plans of my own. My instructor is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy and learn so much from this class."
