The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) is a curriculum that students take to satisfy lower division general education requirements at any public college or university in Minnesota. If completed, this curriculum is accepted as a package that satisfies the general education requirements of a bachelor's degree at any state college in Minnesota.
The MnTC curriculum requires a minimum of 40 credits distributed among 10 General Education Goal Areas. These 10 Goal Areas encompass courses from the following content areas: Communications, Critical Thinking, Natural Sciences, Mathematical/Logical Reasoning, History & the Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities & Fine Arts, Human Diversity, Global Perspective, Ethical & Civic Responsibility, and People & the Environment. South Central College MnTC students are required to take ENGL 100, Composition, and a Natural Science course with a lab as a part of the 10 Goal Areas.
General Requirements:
- Completion of 40 MnTC credits
- These credits consist of 40 MnTC credits from the 10 Goal Areas specified in the program guide sheets
- Completion of ENGL 100, Composition
- Completion of an Area 3, 2 Natural Science courses (at least one course with lab credit)
- Additional required MnTC courses (Goal Areas 1-10) specified on the program guide sheet
- These credits consist of 40 MnTC credits from the 10 Goal Areas specified in the program guide sheets
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher in the MnTC courses
- Any additional program requirements listed in the College Catalog.
