Play a Significant Role in the Medical World
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) you will work in an expanding medical field under the supervision of a medical technologist or a physician. The job requires you to be dependable, give attention to detail, and to be honest and ethical. You will work with people mostly in hospitals but also in clinics and doctor’s offices. You will conduct laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, and play a significant role in the medical world.

The Medical Laboratory Technician curriculum at South Central College allows you to apply your newly gained knowledge in a simulated laboratory setting. You will gain experience and practice in basic clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, and phlebotomy while you earn your AAS degree. The MLT program at South Central College is nationally accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Once you have completed the program you will be eligible for the national certification exam through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
