With a welding certificate or diploma from South Central College, you’re on your way to a valuable career utilized in many industries such as manufacturing, commercial construction, mining, agriculture, or maintenance and repair. With this growing demand for welders, the future looks promising for the profession. It is, and will continue to be, a productive, cost-effective manufacturing process. In addition, as technology advances, more uses for welding will be created and employment opportunities will continue to expand.

The Welding Program at South Central College is designed to help you quickly develop technical knowledge and hands-on skills for a career in this high-demand field. Depending upon your individual career goals, you have the option to earn a 16-week certificate, a two-semester diploma or to take individual classes. With these varied options available, novices and advanced-level students alike can benefit from the Welding Program at SCC.

Location: Faribault and North Mankato Campuses

 



The Welding Program at South Central College Includes:

  • Blueprint Reading
  • OSHA Welding Safety
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
  • Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting

 

Employment Outlook
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that prospects should be good for welders trained in the latest technologies. Many employers report difficulty finding qualified applicants and wages continue to climb. In addition, other openings will arise as workers retire, creating a need for skilled and experienced workers to replace them.
