600+ Firefighters Participating in Fire School put on by SCC Center for Business and Industry
(March 3, 2016) - More than 600 firefighters from across the region will be at South Central College’s North Mankato campus March 5 and 6 for the Minnesota State Fire/EMS/Rescue School and Expo. The long-standing event is hosted annually by the Fire and Rescue Department of South Central College’s Center for Business and Industry (CBI), 1920 Lee Boulevard, North Mankato.
“We would not be able to plan and put on an event of this caliber each year without the 60 instructors from around the region, 20 vendors and CBI staff who work together to make it possible,” said Bobby Scheidt, CBI Fire and Rescue Consultant. “We are also fortunate to have significant manpower and equipment furnished by many area fire departments to support the training.”
The event includes 50 different trainings, with many incorporating hands-on exercises held on the campus and other nearby locations. Some of these hands-on simulation trainings include: Active Shooter and Response, Grain Bin Rescue, House Burn, LP Gas Emergency Handling, Aircraft Crash Response, Automobile Extrication, Bus and Heavy Truck Rescue, Water Rescue, Rope Rescue and Ethanol Fire Fighting
The Center for Business and Industry at South Central College provides education, training and consulting to help businesses and organizations improve performance and productivity. More than 15,000 professionals receive training through CBI annually.
