SCC Collegiate DECA Students Triumph at State Competition


(March 4, 2016) - South Central College (SCC) sent 12 Marketing Management and 10 Culinary Arts students to the Minnesota State Collegiate DECA Career Development Conference on February 18 - 19. Collegiate DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in colleges around the globe.

At the event, SCC Marketing Management student Ben Sears was elected to the State Action Team for the 2016-2017 school year.  The SCC Collegiate DECA chapter also received the “Diamond Chapter” and the State “Community Service Award” for their work in a variety of community projects.   

Students from across the state also competed in both team and individual events. The following students from South Central College placed in the Top 8, with several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. These students will now advance to the International Career Development Conference to be held April 15 - 20 in Washington, DC.

Amelia Lange (from Le Sueur), Michael Mallari (from St. Peter) and Trevy Weingartz (from St. Peter) - 3rd Place
Mark Fakler (from North Mankato) - 4th Place
