SCC Faribault Campus to Host Advanced Manufacturing Ribbon Cutting and Open House October 8
(October 6, 2015) - South Central College’s faculty and staff are excited to show off their new and updated Advanced Manufacturing facilities - and what better time to do it than during Minnesota Manufacturing Week in conjunction with the Faribault Chamber of Commerce’s “Made in Faribault” event.
South Central College’s Advanced Manufacturing Open House will take place on Thursday, October 8 from 1:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and kick off with an official Chamber Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 1:15 p.m. The Open House is open to the public with anyone interested in Advanced Manufacturing encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served and tours of the Advanced Manufacturing facilities provided.
All three of South Central College’s Advanced Manufacturing programs have had recent enhancements:
- Computer Integrated Machining (CIM) has made significant improvements to its lab, including a better, open floor plan, a dedicated area for grinding and quality inspection, and room for numerous new pieces of manual and automated equipment that have been added.
- Welding has recently added new state-of-the-art equipment to its lab.
- Mechatronics, which just began as a program in Faribault this fall, has a brand new lab equipped with the latest technology.
