Six industry partners have pledged $200,000 to the SCC North Mankato Campus Foundation. The funds will go toward construction and equipment in SCC’s New Welding Lab.
Legacy Donor Jones Metal has pledged $100,000 through the Page Jones Richards Fund of the Mankato Area Foundation.
Key investors providing $20,000 each include: G & S Manufacturing, L.L.C.; Industrial Fabrication Services, Inc. (IFS); Jarraff Industries, Inc.; Plumbers Local 34 JATC and Pipefitters Local 455 JATC; and Truck Bodies & Equipment International (TBEI).
“The level of support we have received from so many industry partners to help make this welding lab a reality is just incredible,” said Aanenson, Executive Director, SCC North Mankato Campus Foundation. “South Central College’s welding program is strong, due in large part to our industry partners who support it financially like this, as well as by serving on our advisory committee and providing employment opportunities for our students.”
The new welding lab is part of a larger, expansive college renovation project that includes enhancements to the college’s Healthcare and STEM facilities and more. SCC received legislative bonding funding for the project in 2017, with construction beginning June 2019 and expected to be completed May 2020.
“We were fortunate to receive legislative bonding funding for this major renovation project and with this major gift from industry partners, we are able to make additional impactful improvements like this,” said South Central College President Annette Parker.
