South Central College to Ink New Recruits at National Technical Signing Day
(February 16, 2016) - South Central College is hosting its first National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 at two simultaneous events on the college’s Faribault (1225 Third St. SW) and North Mankato (1920 Lee Blvd.) campuses. New students for the 2016 - 2017 academic year will take part in a signing ceremonies, similar to an athletic signing.
South Central College’s event, which is conducted in conjunction with the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate strong technical careers. This year’s national event expands on the tremendous success of previous year’s coordinated National Technical Signing Day events held at Washburn Tech (Topeka, KS), Gateway Technical College (Kenosha, WI) Pima Community College (Tucson, AZ) and Wichita Area Technical College (Wichita, KS).
“South Central College is joining the national effort to congratulate incoming students on their decision to pursue a high-demand technical program, which will prepare them for a promising future,” said Dr. Annette Parker, President of South Central College.
Area business and community leaders along with several of South Central College’s corporate partners will be in attendance to show support and meet the students who will make up their workforce of tomorrow.
