South Central College (SCC) is opening a call for ideas that move the college toward continuous improvement! In an effort to maximize our strengths and improve the college in new and exciting ways, we would like to hear your ideas for Action Projects. These projects are focused initiatives that will help SCC advance and improve. Action Projects can be described generally by the following characteristics:

Q. What is an AQIP Action Project?
A. Action Projects are focused improvement initiatives that will help South Central College (SCC) advance and improve college processes. Having Action Projects on file with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) demonstrates the college’s commitment to quality improvement efforts. AQIP Action Projects can be described generally by the following characteristics:
Q. Where do ideas for AQIP Action Projects come from?
A. Ideas for AQIP Action Projects come from anyone in the SCC community, including staff; faculty; students; alumnae; advisory board members; community members; and groups within the college, such as committees, student senate, and academic departments.
Q. When and how can I submit an idea for an AQIP Action Project?
A. Ideas can be submitted at any time. However, to be considered for this first round of Action Projects, we are requesting suggestions be submitted by November 12, 2013. Suggestions may be submitted via the online suggestion form. (www.southcentral.edu/aqipactionproject)
Q. What happens to my suggestion once I submit it?
A. Suggestions for AQIP Action Projects are reviewed by the AQIP Steering Committee using the SCC Action Project Scoring Rubric. A link to the rubric is also available from the Action Project online suggestion form.
Project suggestions are prioritized based on the criteria provided in the rubric. A subset of the top scored project ideas are then ranked by AQIP Steering Committee members based on the needs of SCC at the time of the call for ideas. The AQIP Steering Committee then submits Action Project ideas to the SCC President and SCC President’s Cabinet for final approval.
Q. Where can I find examples of AQIP Action Projects?
A. Action Projects from all AQIP colleges and universities can be reviewed in the HLC Action Project Directory (www.ncahlc.org/component/com_apdsearch).
Q. Who works on AQIP Action Projects?
A. Any SCC faculty, staff, administrators, and/or students who are interested in the project will work in teams on Action Projects. The AQIP Steering Committee will put out a call for volunteers, and encourage representation and participation from a variety of SCC constituencies.
Q. How many AQIP Action Projects do we work on at one time?
A. SCC is required to commit to, report on, and publically share at least three actions projects at all times. To ensure we can continually work on at least three Action Projects, some projects will be in line, ready to begin as an Action Project is completed.
Q. How long to AQIP Action Projects last?
A. AQIP Action Projects typically last from a few months to one year. In rare instances, an Action Project may last several years. Projects that take several years may be completed in stages.
