SCC to Host State Fire/EMS Rescue School & Expo March 2nd & 3rd
The annual State Fire/EMS/Rescue School and Expo is expected to draw more than 700 firefighters from around the region, mostly volunteers, to the SCC North Mankato campus. The State Fire/EMS/Rescue School is offering firefighters sixty-three continuing education courses to increase their firefighting knowledge and skills.

Classroom instructions as well as hands-on learning exercises are designed to help firefighters master the split-second decisions needed to save lives. New topics at this year’s State School include:

  • Electric Car Response
  • Active Shooter & IED Response
  • LP Gas Handling
  • Air Monitoring/Thermal Imaging
  • Positive Pressure Attack/Advanced Ventilation

This annual training would not be possible without the support of our local fire departments that will once again this year be providing personnel and equipment to help support firefighter training. Our thanks go out to the following area departments:

North Mankato, Mankato, Lake Crystal, St. Peter, Waterville, Henderson, Good Thunder, Nicollet, Janesville, Eagle Lake, Sibley County Air Truck, LeSueur, Waseca, Madison Lake, South Bend, St. Clair, Cleveland, Belle Plaine, Kasota, Winthrop, and Glencoe.
