For the last 4 years, Enterprise Minnesota has surveyed manufacturing firms in Minnesota for their “State of Manufacturing” report. This report has grown each year and this year featured 20 focus groups held in different areas of the state, and interviews with over 400 manufacturing executives in Minnesota. The polling and analysis is conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, an experienced polling firm that works with the Wall Street Journal and other national publications.
Since joining the CBI team 2 years ago, Manufacturing Consultant Tom Kammer has established a great partnership with Enterprise Minnesota, and for the 2012 State of Manufacturing Survey South Central agreed to host one of the focus groups in January of this year.
The survey results are published and Enterprise Minnesota holds regional meetings at 8 locations in the state to release the results. South Central also hosted these events for local manufacturers and the media at both North Mankato and Faribault this week. The poll results show that Minnesota manufacturers are confident in the future, but concerned with Health Care costs and availability of skilled workers to replace retiring baby boomers are top concerns.
