Linda Anderson


I teach the Database Software:Access, Advanced Database/Spreadsheets, and the Operating Systems I and II courses on our mid-range (IBM iSeries) computer system.

I have been teaching at SCC for 24 years. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in the computer field as a computer programmer/operator for the Mankato school district and in banking.

My education background includes a diploma from SCC and a bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

John Burns

John Burns

John Burns has taught networking courses at SCC for nine years. He also oversees the testing center for Prometric, Pearson VUE, and Certiport certification.

John is CompTIA certified in A+ and Network +, has passed the CISSP exam, and holds Microsoft and Cisco certifications. He continually takes courses to keep his skills up to date. Prior to becoming an instructor, he gained much of his experience while working for Gateway Computer Company in South Dakota.

John also has a Masters Certificate in Information Assurance from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science from Minnesota State University. He is involved with the nonprofit agency PCs for People, through which he organizes service learning projects in his Hardware/Software Fundamentals course. His current interest of research revolves around virtualization and network security.

Tom Edwards

Tom Edwards


I teach Foundations of Computing, Introduction to Data Communications, Linux operating system courses, Information Security, and IBM mainframe programming.

I have been teaching at SCC since 1998.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a programmer and a systems analyst. I also managed an IT department for a local non-profit corporation and I owned and operated a small contract software development company. When school is not in session I still do software development and consulting for area companies.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and graduate studies in Systems Management.

Peter Johnson

Peter Johnson


I teach the Programming Fundamentals, Java, Web Development (XHTML & CSS), Web Programming (PHP & ASP.NET), Web Services (XML), and VB.NET

I have been teaching at SCC for 9 years. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked at Taylor Corporation and SuperValu as a programmer.

I have a Masters in Information Systems from Aspen University and a BS in Organizational Management and Communications.
