Radical Web Programming

July 21-23rd 9am - 4pm at South Central College, North Mankato Campus - Room C169

Learn professional secrets used by professional web developers. This three-day workshop highlights xHTML, the newest web language as well as how to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for page layout and style. You'll be using TextPad, a professional editor, and learning JavaScript tips and tricks, making your web pages more interactive. We will have a web server available where you will be able to publish your pages for the summer.

No web experience necessary!

Monday - XHTML Rocks! Make your own web pages using professional techniques used around the world.

Tuesday - Use CSS to add color and style to your web pages. Learn how to set up a cool menu system.

Wednesday - Activate your web page using JavaScript - the scripting language of the Web. Learn how to display email addresses that fool the SPAM email harvesting robots.

Game Development using Adobe Flash®

July 24-25th 9 am - 4pm at South Central College, North Mankato Campus - Room C169

Learn how to use Flash® to create your own animated games.  If you have done any programming at all you will LOVE working with ActionScript.

Thursday - Learn the basics of Flash® and using ActionScript. Create a clocktimer for your games.

Friday - Start your own animated game

Prerequisite: Be a good typist (35wpm or faster)

3-D Programming with Alice

July 24-25th 9 am - 4pm at South Central College, North Mankato Campus - Room C179

Alice is a free, 3-D programming environment created by Carnegie-Mellon University (http://alice.org). Using OOP (Object Oriented Programming) you will be able to create and program multiple characters in the world of your choosing. You'll learn how to use looping and conditional statements to control your characters. You'll learn how to use event-driven programming allowing the user to control the characters in your program.

No programming experience necessary!

Thursday - Intro to Alice. Creating your first world. Controlling your characters with loops.

Friday - Adding event-driven programming so you control what the program does.
