TechNow Template

TechNow is a collaborative effort between high schools, colleges, and industry designed to get young people interested in technology as a career choice. Over the last several years we have developed several tools including the TechNow Summer Camp, posters, careers cards, and brochures. South Central College is making these available to other organizations as an open source project so others can benefit from our efforts and get even more students involved and excited about programming and technology as a career choice.

Open source is a set of principles and practices that promote access to the design and production of goods and knowledge. Open source culture is one where collective decisions or fixations are shared during development and made generally available to all. (-- from Wikipedia). As you use these materials please share your improvements and additions with others.

We are working with IBM's Academic Alliance and the University of Nebraska in setting up a wiki space. Until then, please send your ideas and materials to Peter K. Johnson peter.johnson@southcentral.edu

Promote technology with excitement

The TechNow Template

An e-book to help you get started. This outlines some of the things we have done to get students interested in technology careers. Read this first to get ideas and guidelines on how to use the items listed below.

Posters

These are the Photoshop files we used to create our posters. Feel free to use our design and replacing our college specific information with your own. Due to copyright restrictions you'll have to download your own photos from iStockPhoto.com but the cost is very reasonable.

These will print out as 2foot by 3 foot posters as well as 11x17. There's space on each poster to add adhesive card holders for the career cards (see below).

Career Cards

We have put together four career cards that we include with each poster and hand out like business cards. They are designed to appeal to high school students (Feel The Rush) as well as professionals looking to change careers (Join the Club). Each design has the same information on the back which you can change with your organization and contact information.

These are standard business card format (3 1/2 x 2)
