SCC’s commitment to building a more inclusive and welcoming environment is directed by several individuals and a Diversity Committee.
- The Chief Diversity Officer is Dr. Anade' Long-Jacobs, Chief Human Resource Officer. Dr. Long-Jacobs serves as the Affirmative Action Officer and oversees the development and management of SCC’s equal opportunity and affirmative action programs, including overseeing the college’s compliance with Federal, State, and MnSCU laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to EEO/AA, Title IX, 504 legislation and ADA legislation. Dr. Long-Jacobs is responsible for developing and managing the Affirmative Action Plan and Civil Rights Review.
- Ricki Walters is the Regional Diversity Investigator and Trainer, a shared position with three other institutions within the Minnesota Colleges and University System. Ms. Walters investigates harassment and discrimination claims made by students and employees. She also provides training on various topics including prevention of discrimination, sexual harassment, and other topics as requested.
- Marilyn Weber is the Director of Disability Services. Ms. Weber serves as an advocate for students with disabilities and coordinates academic accommodations.
- The Diversity Committee, comprised of administrators, faculty, staff, and students, supports diversity initiatives, provides advocacy to those with questions and concerns, and offers guidance to the President on matters of diversity.
The Chief Diversity Officer, the Diversity Investigator and Trainer, the Director of Human Resources, a representative from Disability Services, and the Diversity Committee collaborate to create and carry out a multi-year diversity plan, investigate and recommend events and training opportunities, and provide advocacy and guidance.
