Description

The January Sakatah Reading Series event welcomes Shannon Gibney, a writer, educator, activist, and author of "See No Color," a young adult novel that won the 2016 Minnesota Book Award in Young Peoples' Literature. The event will be held at South Central College's North Mankato Campus in Conference Center B and broadcast via Interactive Television to the college's Faribault Campus in Room C23. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Gibney's writing appears in numerous anthologies and in other venues including Al Jazeera America, The Crisis, and Gawker. She is an English faculty member at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, where she teaches critical and creative writing, journalism, and African Diasporic topics. A Bush Artist and McKnight Writing Fellow, she is currently at work on her second YA novel, "Dream Country" about more than five generations of an African descended family crisscrossing the Atlantic.
