By the time you read this article, it is quite possible that the Foundation will have exceeded its fundraising goal for 2012-13. Right now the total raised is $134,700 or 99% of the goal of $135,000! This effort, led by fund drive chair Kristen Koch of Treadway Graphics, has involved a team of volunteers calling on over 250 businesses and individuals plus a successful auction fundraiser. Stay tuned for the announcement that we have exceeded the goal!
The Faribault and North Mankato Campus Foundations asked faculty and staff at SCC to help promote scholarships in very specific ways this past winter. The scholarship application review and selection process is now underway and the promoting helped the Faribault Campus Foundation get more completed applications than ever before according to my records. In 2008, we had the highest number of completed applications with 131 to consider. This year we have 153. That’s 17% more than in 2008 but 88% more than last year, which was the lowest year since we’ve been tracking it.
As April approaches, I’d like to note that it was 30 years ago that the Faribault Campus Foundation was established to accept donations to support students and programs at SCC. It’s impossible to quantify the impact on the various levels but we can add up scholarships awards. Since 2007, scholarship awards have surpassed $500,000!. That’s a half million dollars of community donations working to help students build a future and transform their lives!
