The South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation was founded in 1983 as the Faribault Area Vocational Technical Trust Association to promote community post-secondary education in the Faribault area.  The Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization governed by a board of directors comprised of individuals from the area, including South Central College alumni.

Summary of the Year

Inspired by the theme "Our Students:  An Investment in our Community's Future" volunteer fund drive co-chairs Jean Gillis and Laurie (Gillis) Hager ('85), led the Foundation’s 2010-11 annual fund drive to raise over $112,000. Thanks to the generosity of area businesses and individuals, the Foundation awarded $70,600 in scholarships to 77 students during the spring scholarship ceremony for 2011-12.  Thanks to a Department of Labor grant, the Foundation also provided an additional $16,400 in scholarships for spring and summer semesters to 19 students in health careers.

“South Central College is educating individuals who represent the next generation of our region's work force and who will work intensely and "fan the flames" for growth or change in ways that are meaningful to them.  I plan to use my talents and motivation to help lead the fund drive to another successful outcome so dozens of students can benefit from a scholarship next year.”
