Human Resources Report

By Laural Kubat, Human Resources Director

FIRST GLOBAL DAY – January, 2000
The first Global Day was implemented back in January, 2000, by the Global Committee for employees only. The focus was international business. People on the Global/International committee in 1999 were Robin Schwieger, Rich Baumann, Paul Gorman, Alice Keel, Patricia Linehan, Julie Buck, Barbara Bassett, and Laural Kubat. (maybe others ?? sorry if I missed you.) During the lunch hour we sampled international cuisine prepared by our own Rebecca as ten area businesses who do international business were featured in Heritage Hall. As part of the Global Day program a panel of current employees who had traveled internationally talked about what they learned and how they incorporated it into their classes. Paul Brown and Winifred Mitchel, professors of anthropology at MSU,M were guest speakers, as well as, Dennis Berquist, Instructor at Ridgewater, and Ed Stoessel, development officer at Eastern Iowa Community College. Flags were displayed from as many countries as possible by the conference center and smaller flags were used for table decorations in the cafeteria. Today the large flags are hanging in the student lounge on the NM campus.

Every year we sponsor one employee to participate in each of the area leadership programs. This year the following employees will participate in the programs: Mankato Leadership -Institute: Anne Willaert
-Faribault Futures: Jeannie Ender
-Connecting Nicollet County: Eileen Darling and Wayne Whitmore

The Presidential Search will be starting NOW! Chancellor Rosenstone will be at our college on September 10 or 11. Laural Kubat will be the campus liaison for the search; Jim Johnson, President, Minnesota State College SE Technical, will be the committee chair; and Renee Hogoboom, Associate Director for Diversity and Equity, MnSCU System Office, will be our MnSCU liaison. We will be working with the Isaacson, Miller, Inc. search firm.

An announcement about accepting nominations for the search advisory committee will be coming out soon. You may nominate yourself or another person. I will regularly keep you apprised of our progress. It is the hope of the Chancellor to have a new President appointed in March and ready to start on July 1, 2013.
