The South Central College Speech Team was named 2014 State Champion at the recent 32nd Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association State Championships on February 16 – 17 at Gustavus Adolphus College.   The four students on the South Central College Speech Team competing were Tess Drager, Asma Dahir, Hailey Woolverton and Ashly Kingery.

A total of 16 colleges and universities participated and were categorized as either “Large Entry” or “Limited Entry,” based on the number of individuals entered from each school. South Central College was named State Champ in the “Limited Entry” category, competing against eight other schools in this category, including Bethany Lutheran College, Carlton College, St. Olaf College, St. Cloud State University, Southwest Minnesota State University, The College of Saint Benedict & Saint John's University, University of Northwestern and University of Minnesota.

South Central College was the only two year school competing at the State Championship. “The tournament was incredibly competitive, with our four students competing in a total of 13 different events,” said Brian Klosa, South Central College Speech Team Director and Communications Instructor.  “These students are simply amazing and they are State Champions!”

South Central College (SCC) offers a Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum that enables learners to complete an Associate in Arts degree from SCC before transferring to complete a baccalaureate degree at a four year college or university.
