North Mankato MN - South Central College’s North Mankato campus had twenty-two students participate in the State SkillsUSA skills events held on March 23-25, 2012, throughout the state. Twelve of those students placed in the top three honors and six with advance to the national competition.  Four SCC instructors (Todd Huxford, Jim Brady, Jay Winters and Jon Morgan) attended the conference as advisors. Over one-thousand students (both secondary and post-secondary) competed this year, in seventy-seven different events.

Prizes and scholarships totaling over $460,000 were given out at the 2012 SkillsUSA State conference. Over the past five years over $2,300,000 has been given out to SkillsUSA winners.

On Saturday March 24th South Central College (SCC) hosted the Collision Repair Technology contest, as part of the state SkillsUSA competition. This was the first time the event was hosted at SCC. There were 41 contestants competing in 6 different areas of competition. 50 judges and industry members were on hand to help make the contest a success.

South Central College-North Mankato will send six students to the SkillsUSA National Conference held in Kansas City, MO, June 23th - 27th.
