South Central College (SCC) is again holding Summer Camps on its North Mankato Campus this June for 8th
graders. The Summer Camps run by SCC instructors are first and foremost fun, but could also be called “Career Camps,” because they expose participants to fields that could someday become careers. ROBOTICS CHALLENGE CAMP
will be held June 1
7 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The camp is open to 8th
graders. Participants will work in small groups to design, build and program a robot in one day. This is a great introduction for those who are or want to be on competitive robotics teams. With robotics playing essential role in today’s high-tech manufacturing, the career possibilities in this field are ever increasing. This camp is run by South Central College’s Mechatronics program. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CAMP
will be held June 19
from 8:00 a.m. – Noon. This camp is open to 10th
graders. Participants in this camp will create a real building model from the sketching and design phase, through planning and then building. As a result of this experience, attendees may develop a life-long love of architecture. This camp is run by South Central College Architectural Drafting and Design program. BUILD YOUR OWN ELECTRIC GUITAR CAMP
will be held June 23 - 27
from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The camp is open to 9th
graders. Participants in this camp will construct their own solid body electric guitar utilizing electronics, soldering, intonation, woodworking, sanding and finishing techniques. At the end, participants will have their own custom guitar to take home and play. This camp is run by South Central College’s Engineering program.
South Central College has hosted summer camps since 2008, with subjects updated annually. For more details on this year’s camps, visit southcentral.edu/events/summer-camps-at-south-central-college.html
