The SCC  FBM program in Nicollet offers monthly on-farm instruction, monthly classes and newsletters, special topic classes, and up to date information on current farm topics.

You may wonder what is expected of farmers enrolled in the FBM program.  Here are the main expectations:
  • record income and expenses for your farm.
  • keep records for livestock, including feed and livestock numbers.
  • keep separate accounts for personal expense.
  • allocate crop expenses to field or crop.
  • keep accurate liability accounts including money borrowed, principle paid and interest paid.
  • submit a depreciation schedule from your tax preparer to update farm management accounts.
  • prepare year-end accounts for year-end close-out and farm business analysis.
  • prepare accounts for tax planning.
  • prepare an accurate, complete financial statement for January 1st, or year-end.
  • attend the scheduled group class sessions and attend the scheduled individual visits.
  • pay the necessary tuition and fees in advance for the program.
