How do I forward email from SCC email account to my personal email account?

  1. Log into your student email account.
  2. Click setting icon that looks like a gear in the upper right hand corner.
  3. Choose Options. On the screen that comes up, click Forward your email.
  4. Enter your new email address in forwarding field, under Forward my email to:, and then click start forwarding.

How long will my email account and MyFiles be available to me after I graduate?

Can I drop off my personal computer for a repair at the SCC help desk?
No. SCC Help Desk can’t repair personal computers. We can only give directions and consult on what you should do when your computer is broken.

Can I save my files and documents to a computer on the campus and access them when I come back later?
No. After you log out of a campus computer, restart it or shut it down, all your files will be lost. Save your work to your own flash drive or to the MyFiles.

How do I get on the internet/wireless with my device?
Stop by the help desk window on the North Mankato campus Learning Commons Computer Center (C101) and the help desk worker will connect your device to the SCC student wireless network. How do I order Microsoft Office and other software through a student discount program?
Microsoft Office and other software may be purchased through the SCC Bookstores.

How do I know what my login information is?
Visit the Current Students page and click on the SCC Login Guide link. The displayed information will be your login information.

What do I do if I don’t remember my password?
Depending on the type of account a student is trying to log into (D2L, eServices, email, etc.), the “Forgot Password” link might be available to be emailed new information or links to change the password. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for assistance or, in case of eServices, Student Affairs at 507-389-7200.

How do I get logged in if my account is locked?
D2L – The user has 6 failed login attempts before being locked out - accounts are unlocked in 5 minutes.
Email – After 10 unsuccessful sign-in attempts with an incorrect password, you will have to solve a CAPTCHA as part of the sign-in process. After another 10 unsuccessful sign-in attempts with an incorrect password and after you correctly solved the CAPTCHA, you'll be locked out for 15 minutes. Additional sign-in attempts with an incorrect password results in an exponential increase in the lockout time period. How can I access my email? 
Go the Current Students page and click on the Check Email link. Enter your user name ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and password (this is initially set to the first initial of your first name, first initial of your last name, a dot and your 8 digit SCC Student ID number.)

How can I get my email on my phone or other device?

Can I get connected to print on campus?
No. You can only print from campus computers.

How do I check my print balance?
After you login to a campus computer, you will see your balance window in the upper right hand corner. You can renew your balance in the SCC bookstores.

If I don't have a computer with me, how can I get to a computer on campus?
You can access a computer in our computer lab on the North Mankato campus Learning Commons Computer Center (51), North Mankato Library (20), Faribault Library (17), Faribault Student Lounge (2), Faribault 2nd floor hallway (2).

How do I know if I am required to have a laptop for college?
Depending on the academic program, a student may or may not require a laptop. A student can find out by selecting their particular program at the SCC website. Programs may have specific software/hardware requirements in addition to the minimum requirements. Consult your program advisor for information on the requirements.

How do I keep my computer safe from viruses?
The best practices are to keep the anti-virus updated, refrain from visiting questionable sites, avoid downloading illegal music and movies (i.e. Limeware, Frostwire, etc.), and do not download malicious software or applications from unknown sources. Students should also use their anti-virus program to scan their computer at least twice a month. Free antivirus software is available for download, for example: Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, AVG, ClamAv (Mac OS X). Windows 8 has a built in anti-virus (Windows Defender).

How do I remove a virus from my computer?
Download Malwarebytes here (http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html ) if it is not yet installed on the computer. Once installed, a full scan should be run. If threats are found, remove these and run full scans until Malwarebytes no longer detects threats. You can additionally scan your computer with other free antivirus program, like Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, and AVG to increase likelihood of virus removal.

That email from you is being automatically transformed into a work order for the SCC help desk staff. You should get an automatic reply that your help request has been submitted. SCC help desk staff usually responds within 24 hours Mon-Fri.
