On April 29, South Central College students, faculty and staff will continue their annual tradition of going barefoot as part of the national One Day Without Shoes. The initiative was established by TOMS “One for One” to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.

The South Central College bookstores on both the Faribault and North Mankato campuses have organized the effort since 2011. Participants will gather at the bookstore on the Faribault campus and the student lounge on the North Mankato campus at Noon on April 29 for the hour-long Barefoot Walk.

More than just a one-day initiative, the bookstores have encouraged the donation of shoes throughout the month of April. Shoe donations will continue to be accepted at both bookstores through May 2. In appreciation for the donation, the bookstores are offering 30% off an apparel item for each pair of shoes donated.  Shoes collected in Faribault will go to Ruth’s House, and those donated in North Mankato will go to The Reach and Connecting Kids.
