South Central College (SCC) students took top honors at the SkillsUSA State Competition in Minnesota this past weekend.  SkillsUSA is a nationwide career and technical student organization that serves more than 300,000 students and their instructors in technical, skilled and service occupation instructional programs. South Central College students placed 1st in eight events, 2nd in six events and 3rd in four events. Those with first place finishes will compete at the national Skills USA Competition in Kansas City, June 23 - 27, 2014.

South Central College’s student competitors came from a variety of programs, including Computer Integrated Machining (CIM), Graphics, Auto Body and Collision Technology, and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC).

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, instructors and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce, while helping each student excel. The Minnesota SkillsUSA Association has offered leadership opportunities to more 200,000 student members since 1967, with a current annual membership of more than 3,000. There are chapters at 29 Minnesota community and technical colleges and 50 high schools or cooperative centers.
