Marsha Danielson has served as education, non-profit and community leader for over 25 years
Marsha Danielson, vice president of economic development at South Central College, has been appointed the new President of Minnesota State College Southeast with campuses in Red Wing and Winona, Minn. She will begin in her new role on July 1, 2021.
Danielson is a longtime education, non-profit and community leader, most recently serving at South Central College (SCC) since 2007, originally as dean of economic development and since 2016 as vice president of economic development.
“One of Dr. Danielson’s greatest strengths has been her ability to build lasting partnerships within and outside the institution, which I know will serve her well in her new role,” said Annette Parker, president of South Central College. “In her 14 years at SCC, Dr. Danielson has left an indelible mark on South Central College, and while she will be missed here, I am proud and thrilled that we will have her as a colleague and friend within the Minnesota State system.”
Prior to joining SCC, Danielson served Minnesota State University, Mankato for 11 years in the roles of director of development, director of alumni relations and special events, interim director of marketing and communications and most recently director of development and external relations. Her professional resume also includes serving as Tourism Regional Manager and Marketing Manager for the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
Danielson has been a strong advocate and spokesperson for diversity issues in the region, serving as the founding executive director of the Greater Mankato Diversity Council for the organization’s first three years and a volunteer facilitator for eight additional years. She is also a long-standing volunteer with the YWCA, sitting on the Board of Directors for seven years and currently serving on the Women’s Leadership Advisory Council, and as a racial justice facilitator since 2015.
In addition, Danielson currently serves on the Faribault Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Board of Directors, Faribault Chamber Trust Board of Directors, Greater Mankato Growth Talent Council, GreenSeam LLC Board of Governors, Mankato Clinic Foundation Board of Directors, Regional Economic Development Workforce Committee, Diversifying the Workforce Committee (co-chair), and Workforce Development Inc. Employer Engagement & Emerging Workforce Committees.
Her past volunteer service includes roles with the Blandin Community Leadership Program Steering Committee, Greater Mankato Area United Way Board of Directors (including serving as board chair), Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Greater Mankato Convention and Visitors Bureau Board (including serving as president), Greater Mankato Growth Ambassadors (including serving as chair), Small Business Development Center Board of Directors and Twin Rivers Center for the Arts Board of Directors .
For her many contributions to the community, Danielson was honored with the Greater Mankato Growth’s Hap Halligan Leadership Award in 2012 and named a YWCA Woman of Distinction in 2007.
