Description The students in this course will learn the characteristics of sheet metal repair processes in minor damage. Students practice sheet metal repair on panels or damage on vehicles. Students learn material product safety and use of body fillers. (Prerequisites: None)

  5. [HP-I] Locate and reduce surface irregularities on a damaged body panel.
  6. [HP-I] Demonstrate hammer and dolly techniques.
  7. [HP-I] Heat shrink stretched panel areas to proper contour.
  8. [HP-I] Cold shrink stretched panel areas to proper contour.
  9. [HP-I] Mix body filler.
  10. [HP-I] Apply body filler; shape during curing.
  11. [HP-I] Rough sand cured body filler to contour; finish sand.
  12. [HP-G] Determine the proper metal finishing techniques for aluminum.
  13. [HP-G] Determine proper application of body filler to aluminum.
  14. [HP-I] Protect panels, glass, and parts adjacent to the repair area.
  15. [HP-I] Restore corrosion-resistant coatings, caulking, and seam sealers to repaired areas.
  16. [HP-I] Select and use the NIOSH approved personal sanding respirator.
