Description This course provides a comprehensive overview of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), covering the core technologies, functionalities, and practical applications that enhance vehicle safety and driver convenience. Students will learn how to diagnose, service, and calibrate ADAS components. Students will practice methods of manual and automated calibration as it relates to Auto Body Collision and Repair in both the classroom and lab settings. Emphasis is placed on safe operation, accurate calibration, use of diagnostic equipment, and documentation required in a collision repair setting. (Prerequisite: None)

Course Competencies

  1. Perform pre-scan of vehicle to access present faults and possible repair and/or calibration procedures needed to complete repairs.
  2. Identify major ADAS systems, associated sensors, and their functions.
  3. Interpret manufacturer service information, including calibration and reinitialization requirements.
  4. Conduct ADAS-related diagnostic procedures using Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket scan tools.
  5. Perform safe handling, alignment, and replacement of ADAS sensors, cameras, and related components.
  6. Evaluate vehicle conditions following service or collision events to determine ADAS recalibration needs.
  7. Document diagnostic results and calibration procedures according to OEM standards.
  8. Communicate technical findings and recommendations to customers or supervisors in a professional format.
