Description Art Appreciation is the historical and topical study of art and its relationship to culture and society. This course incorporates the extensive use of visual materials to teach the essentials and aesthetics of art, civilization, and daily life. (Prerequisites: Next-Generation Accuplacer Reading score 250+ OR Classic Accuplacer Reading score 77+ OR MCA Reading score 1046+ OR ACT Reading 21+ OR completion of one of the following courses with a grade of C, 2.0, or higher: READ 0099, ENGL 0099, or ENGL 100 [or equivalent].)   5. Identify the art historical movements and their basic characteristics.
  6. Study the correlation between the timeline and the sequential progression of art historical movements.
  7. Identify the significant artists of the art historical movements.
  8. Investigate the multicultural contribution of art within a historical context.
  9. Investigate the social impact of contemporary and historical movements in art.
