| Description | Intended for students pursuing healthcare careers, this course explores the cross-cultural interactions of healthcare professionals and patients of various cultural, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and otherwise diverse populations, helping students to understand the importance of the cultural dimensions of the communities in which they live and work. This course prepares students to apply cultural competency to their practice in healthcare professions. (Prerequisite: None) |

Course Competencies
- Explain the connections between culture, diversity, and health.
- Analyze their own implicit bias and the impact it has on delivering high-quality care.
- Demonstrate communication skills necessary for living and working effectively in communities of great population diversity.
- Articulate the impact of racial, ethnic, and/or socioeconomic diversity on population health.
- Compare health disparities and inequities of diverse and/or vulnerable populations.
- Assess healthcare delivery for bias and/or cultural competence.
- Advocate for high-quality, culturally competent healthcare delivery for diverse and/or vulnerable populations.
- Create a framework to adjust care based on individual needs relative to social and/or cultural context while maintaining quality standards.
- Participate in continuous cultural competence development.
