| Description | The course will prepare the EMT-P to assess and manage those cardiac emergencies that result from coronary atherosclerosis, along with a number of conditions involving pathology of peripheral/central circulation. The interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias receives much emphasis in this course. ACLS Provider certification may be included. |

Pre/Corequisites
Prerequisite: Admission into the Paramedic Program. All Classes must be taken in sequence.

Course Competencies
- Integrate cardiac pathophysiology into patient assessment and clinical decision-making.
- Interpret electrocardiographic findings to identify cardiac rhythms and ischemic changes.
- Formulate field impressions using patient history, assessment findings, and ECG interpretation.
- Implement evidence-based management plans for patients with cardiac emergencies.
- Apply pharmacological, electrical, and mechanical interventions in cardiac care.
- Evaluate patient response to interventions and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Manage cardiac arrest using current resuscitation guidelines.
- Communicate cardiac assessment findings and treatment plans using accepted EMS formats.
