| Course Title | Medication Administration |
| Description | This course introduces the student to the six rights of medication administration. The course will include non-parenteral administration routes including: oral, topical, nasal, rectal, eye, and ear. The course will also address safe medication administration utilizing the parenteral routes including: topical, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravascular. Medication dosage calculations competency is expected. Medical terminology and abbreviations are threaded throughout the course. Best practices related to medication administration for the practical nurse will be used. This course will also cover the characteristics of hazardous wastes and its safe handling, storage, and disposal. (Prerequisites: Acceptance into Nursing Program is required in order to register for Nursing Courses) |

- Use best practices for safe medication administration including documentation.
- Demonstrate competency of topical, enteral, and parenteral medication administration.
- Demonstrate competency in non-parenteral and parenteral dosage calculations.
- Identify medication error prevention measures.
- Identify pain control methods and devices.
