| Description | In this course the student will apply theory related to alteration in body systems through observation, assessment, and interaction with diverse clients in the clinical setting. Utilization of the nursing process, therapeutic communication, client education, evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and professional nursing behavior will be demonstrated. Students will demonstrate effective communication with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. Students will use therapeutic and interpersonal communication skills when providing client centered care. (Prerequisites: Successfully complete NURS 2205 and NURS 2300) (Corequisite: BIOL 270 successfully completed before final ASN semester). |

Pre/Corequisites
Corequisite: BIOL 270 successfully completed before final ASN semester.
Prerequisite: Successfully complete NURS 2200 and NURS 2300.

- Apply the nursing process to address client needs related to acute and chronic physical and psychosocial conditions of the adult client.
- Demonstrate safe clinical practice behaviors reflecting the standards of professional practice.
- Demonstrate critical thinking by applying the nursing process to clients in the medical surgical and mental health setting.
- Demonstrate safety in medication administration.
- Demonstrate understanding of the professional nurse role in caring for medical surgical and mental health clients.
- Practice teamwork and collaboration as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Incorporate concepts of evidence-based practice, cost containment, and current technology to improve the quality of care for clients and families within varied health care systems.
