| Course Title | Professional Nursing Concepts 3 |
| Description | This course builds on concepts previously learned in Professional Nursing Concepts 1 and 2 and reinforces pathophysiological processes of the hematology and immune systems, endocrine disorders, the reproductive system, and maternal child. These concepts will be applied to develop critical thinking and evidence-based practice using the nursing process. The nursing process, clinical reasoning, and use of research-based nursing actions are integrated throughout the course as foundation for assisting the adult medical surgical and maternal child population experiencing disruptions in the health-illness continuum. Pharmacological concepts, drug classifications, and client centered considerations when administering medications will be integrated throughout the course (Prerequisites: Successfully complete NURS 2400, NURS 2405, and NURS 2415) (Corequisite: PHIL 150 successfully completed by end of final ASN semester). |

Pre/Corequisites
Prerequisite: Successfully complete NURS 2400, NURS 2405, and NURS 2415.
Corequisite: PHIL 150 successfully completed by end of final ASN semester.

- Examine medical surgical and maternal child theory and the nursing process to alterations in body systems.
- Differentiate medication and pharmacology practices to acute and chronic physical and psychosocial conditions across the lifespan.
- Utilize critical thinking strategies for clients across the lifespan within a variety of settings that promote high-level wellness.
- Differentiate the professional nurse role within the interdisciplinary team in caring for clients across the lifespan.
- Discuss legal and ethical implications of medication administration for clients across the lifespan.
- Choose medication and nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice across the lifespan.
- Analyze evidence-based practice components that promote safe, quality care for clients, their families, and communities to clients across the lifespan.
- Evaluate digital and other technology resources to improve client care acute and chronic physical and psychosocial conditions.
- Identify nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice for adult medical surgical and maternal child clients.
