Description This course addresses both invasive and noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring, as well as chest tube management, fluid and electrolyte balance, and other essential topics in critical care. (3 hrs lec/1 hr lab) (Prerequisites: RESP 1220, RESP 1240, RESP 1260, RESP 1280)

Course Competencies

  2. Perform advanced respiratory procedures in critical care.
  3. Evaluate patient outcomes in critical care settings.
  4. Explain the principles of fluid and electrolyte balance in critical care.
  5. Apply evidence-based practices in adult critical care.
  6. Provide interprofessional communication and collaboration in critical care.
  7. Apply the principles of hemodynamic monitoring in critically ill patients.
  8. Implement strategies for preventing complications in critical care respiratory patients.
  9. Use advanced modes of mechanical ventilation in critical care.
  10. Provide care for patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
  11. Explain the principles of mechanical ventilation weaning in critically ill patients.
  12. Manage respiratory care for patients in multisystem failure.
