Complete Online Orientation
All new students must watch the 10-minute Online Orientation video that corresponds to your program area (See the program page for a detailed list of majors in each program area). All PSEO students should watch the PSEO orientation. There will be a quiz at the end of the orientation. (TIP: you must be watching in full screen on your device to access the quiz).

Login to Your SCC Email
SCC Email is the main form of communication used by the college.

Schedule Advising and Registration Session
- Check the Student Course Placement page to see if you are required to complete a course placement assessment. You should have received a notice from Admissions if this is required.
- During this session, you will meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss your program, register for classes, and ensure you're ready to go when classes start.

- Order Your Textbooks - Visit the SCC bookstore web page for detailed information as well as a video tutorial on how to order textbooks online:
- Apply for Financial Aid through the FAFSA website - By completing a FAFSA (Free Application to Federal Student Aid) you will secure your course registration and be allowed to charge your textbooks and school supplies through the college bookstore each term.

- Check Important Dates - Be sure to review important dates regularly.

- Microsoft Office 365 - Did you know that you have access to all the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) through your SCC email account? View instructions on how to install Microsoft Office 365.

- Turn on Text Messaging
Select and choose text messaging in e-Services to receive important reminders and communications from SCC. Log into e-Services, click on Account Management, and select “Turn Text messaging On or Off.”

What is my Star ID?
- Your STAR ID is the username you'll need to login and maintain your academic record (example: ac1234cd).
- If you have not activated your STAR ID or you have forgotten it or your password, visit the Star Id website.
- Your STAR ID and password are used to register for classes and to log-in to a variety of services.
