D2L Brightspace Browser Support
D2L is committed to performing key application testing when new browser versions are released. However, due to the frequency of some browser releases, D2L cannot guarantee that each browser version will perform as expected. If you encounter any issues with any of the browser versions listed in the tables below, contact D2L Support, who will determine the best course of action for resolution.
Maintenance browsers are older browser versions that are not tested extensively against new versions of D2L products. Customers can still report problems and receive support for critical issues; however, D2L does not guarantee all issues will be addressed. A maintenance browser becomes officially unsupported after one year.
Note the following:
- Ensure that your browser has JavaScript and Cookies enabled.
- For desktop systems, you must have Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or greater.
- The Brightspace Daylight Experience features are now optimized for production environments when using the Google Chrome browser, Apple Safari browser, Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, and Mozilla Firefox browsers.
Desktop Computers
D2L Brightspace is supported with these browsers (latestest versions) on both Windows and Mac OS

Tablets and Mobile Devices
D2L Brightspace is supported only on:
- Apple® Safari® on iOS® for iPhone® and iPad®

Microsoft Office
You may install Microsoft Office on up to 5 computers and 5 mobile devices. Your license will only be valid while you are currently enrolled in SCC courses. Microsoft Office 365 Installation Instructions
Zoom
Zoom is a conferencing cloud platform used for video and audio conferencing. Your instructor may require students to use Zoom to meet synchronously as part of class involvement.
System Requirements
- An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
- Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
- A webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in or, a HD cam or HD camcorder with video capture card
Zoom Requirements & Supported OS, Devices, and Browsers
Kaltura MediaSpace
Kalture MediaSpace is a cloud-based video hosting platform available to all users with a StarID. Faculty staff, and students can upload media content to Kalture MediaSpace. Your instructor may require students to create videos for assignments and course work.

LockDown Browser
LockDown Browser® is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system. Your instructor(s) may require you to use this browser to secure online exams in D2L and will provide you with specific access information within the course.
