South Central College is requesting $6.189 million in capital funding to upgrade essential labs and learning spaces on its North Mankato campus.

  • Infrastructure Solutions Lab Creation
  • Agriculture and Diesel Service Lab Upgrade
  • Surgical Technology New Program Space
  • Dental Assisting New Program Space
  • Emergency Medical Services Consolidation
  • General Improvements to Learning Environments

Unique Project Features:

  • Only higher education request that includes agriculture
  • Smaller than average legislative funding request
  • Nearly $1 million in industry support secured to date, with more anticipated

The U.S. Department of Labor estimates the auto industry will have to fill 35,000 technician jobs each year through the end of the decade to keep up with demand. With increasing automobile computer sophistication, receiving training from a certified program is a must.
