Safety performance is influenced by more than policies, procedures, and training. Research shows that a leader’s personal leadership style and safety-related behaviors significantly impact how employees perceive risk, make decisions, and ultimately perform when it comes to safety. Safety DNA for Leaders® is a leadership development program designed to help leads, supervisors, managers, and executives understand the personal factors that influence their safety leadership effectiveness and their team’s exposure to risk.
The program begins with a comprehensive assessment that evaluates both leadership tendencies and SafetyDNA characteristics. Participants gain valuable insight into how they naturally lead, how they approach personal safety, and how these factors affect the safety culture they create for others. Leaders discover their dominant leadership style, identify strengths and blind spots, and learn how their behaviors may either reinforce or undermine safety expectations.
Through facilitated workshops, personalized feedback, and practical application exercises, participants explore the critical leadership competencies associated with high-performing safety leaders. The program also examines the four foundational SafetyDNA factors—Control, Awareness, Rules, and Caution—and their influence on decision-making, risk perception, and accountability.
