(Prerequisite: None)

Course Outline

WELD1065   Metallurgy (1 credits)

Students will learn how metal discoveries and uses have impacted human history. The course will also include an introduction to the internal structure of metals, how alloys are made, and how metals are affected in the welding process. (Prerequisite: None)

Course Outline

WELD1108   Advanced Blueprint Reading (2 credits)

Students will be expanding what was learned in the Introduction to Welding certificate. This class will also add new blueprints that have to do with Fabrication. Blueprints used in this class will also be used to build weldments used in the advanced welding classes. (Prerequisite: WELD 1007 Blueprint Reading or equivalent from another technical college or instructor approval.)

Course Outline

WELD1126   Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (1 credits)

Advanced shielded metal arc welding (Adv. SMAW) is adding upon the basic taught in the introduction certificate. There will be a more of an emphasis on D.1. 1 3G and 4G groove weld test with backer and without backer. This course will also introduce students to welding pipe and performing the 6G weld test at the end of the course. (Prerequisites: WELD 1025 - Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding or equivalent from another school or instructor approval.)

Course Outline

WELD1136   Advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding (2 credits)

This course is more concentrated on the pulse welding of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Student will learn how to pulse on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Students will learn more about the Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW). At the end of the course student will take D1.1 weld test(s) in Pulse and in FCAW. (Prerequisites: WELD 1035 - Introduction to GMAW or equivalent from another technical college or instructor approval.

Course Outline

WELD1146   Advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (3 credits)

In this course students will obtain a better knowledge of how to access the programs of the different machines being used. Students will weld in out of position welds. This course will give students more lab time to practice pipe welding. Students will also learn how to pulse gas tungsten arc welding on stainless steel and aluminum. (Prerequisite: WELD 1045 - Introduction to GTAW or equivalent from another technical college or instructor approval.)

Course Outline

WELD1160   Fabrication I (2 credits)

In this course students will be introduced to the concepts of fabrication. They will also learn proper names of the equipment and hand tools associated with fabrication. (Prerequisite: WELD 1011 - Safety OSHA 10 or instructor approval.)

Course Outline

WELD1175   Advanced Welding Lab II (4 credits)

In this course students will be given more lab time to incorporate what they have been learning in the other classes. Students will read a print and weld a weldment that may be used by industry. (Prerequisites: WELD 1011 - Safety OSHA 10, WELD 1126 - Advanced SMAW, WELD 1136 - Advanced GMAW, WELD 1108 - Advanced Blueprint Reading, WELD 1146 - Advanced GTAW, WELD 1160 - Fabrication I or instructor approval.)
