Nominations for the Employee Recognition Awards are being accepted and can be submitted by South Central College staff and faculty. Submissions for the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award are also open to SCC students. Awards will be announced at the In-Service on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Please submit your nominations by 11:45 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The Engagement Award recognizes a South Central College employee who has demonstrated a commitment to SCC through engagement with the college and the community. The criteria for this award include:

  • Demonstration of leadership within a department
  • Participation on college committees, action teams, student organizations and/or work groups
  • Participation in internal and external collaborations and/or partnerships
  • Mentoring other employees

The Rising Star Award recognizes an outstanding employee who has been employed three years or less at South Central College. The criteria for this award include:

  • Outstanding representative of the college
  • Going above and beyond the scope of their position
  • Supporting the mission of the college
  • Demonstrating outstanding service and/or commitment to SCC

The Team Player Award recognizes a South Central College employee who has demonstrated a commitment to SCC through teamwork. The criteria for this award include:

  • Exemplary in helping others
  • Fostering collaboration among departments
  • Always willing to share ideas
  • Contributing to a positive work environment
  • Mentoring/coaching and supporting co-workers 

The Outstanding Staff Member of the Year Award recognizes a South Central College staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to SCC through service excellence to the college. The criteria for this award include:

  • Going above and beyond the scope of their position
  • Exceeding the expectations of the customer by providing exceptional service
  • Supporting the mission of the college in service excellence every day
  • Promoting diversity and/or global perspectives
  • Being an outstanding representative of our college and external communities

The Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award will be awarded to a faculty member who has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching. The criteria for this award include:

  • Developing innovative and current teaching technologies and materials
  • Utilizing standard forms of evaluation for student learning and performance
  • Demonstrating culturally responsive teaching and practices
  • Demonstrating engagement with students, the profession, the institution (SCC), and the Minnesota State system
  • Demonstrating content expertise and professional growth

Important note: Submissions for the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award are also open to SCC students and community members. The recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award will lead the faculty during the graduation program in spring and will also be automatically nominated for the Minnesota State Board of Trustees (BOT) Outstanding Educator Award.

Transporation Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor estimates the auto industry will have to fill 35,000 technician jobs each year through the end of the decade to keep up with demand. With increasing automobile computer sophistication, receiving training from a certified program is a must.
