Center for Business and Industry is Now Customized Workforce Education

South Central College’s workforce development division has a changed its name from the Center for Business and Industry to Customized Workforce Education.

The new name reflects the diverse workforce solutions that ensure employees and employers have the tools and training needed to succeed and thrive in Southern Minnesota’s economy.  For employers that means upskilling their employees. For employees that means getting the specialized, short-term training and professional development they need to grow in their existing field or pursue a new occupation.

“We provide specialized, short-term career training relevant to the needs of today’s employers,” said Jim Hanson, SCC Dean of Business and Industry. “The name change better reflects the programs we offer and that we are here to help employers upskill their employees and to help individuals gain the education they need to pursue their career goals, whether that be growing in their current field or pursuing an all new occupation.”

For over 40 years, SCC’s workforce development division has been providing high-quality programs leading to work-ready employee candidates, economic self-sufficiency, and improved quality of life.

SCC Customized Workforce Education has offices at SCC’s Faribault and North Mankato campuses, serving approximately 12,000 learners each year. More information can be found at www.southcentral.edu/workforce.
