Policy Statement

Visitors to campus are welcome and encouraged. However, appropriate precautions and limitations on visitations are necessary to protect health and safety and to maintain productivity and regulatory compliance. 

Purpose/Authority 

This policy is established to avoid disruptions in job duties of the employee and co-workers, reduce personal and property liability, and help promote the learning environment of the college.

Scope/Applicability

This policy applies to all South Central College employees, students, faculty and visitors on campus.

Definitions 

As used in this policy, the terms “minor” and “children” are defined as any individual who has not reached the age of 18 that are not enrolled students, including PSEO students. For purposes of this policy, difficulty or inability in arranging childcare does not constitute an emergency

Major Sections

Subpart A. Employee Guidelines: College employees are prohibited from having minor children
present while working on South Central College campuses during their working hours.

Subpart B. Student and Visitor Guidelines: The following guidelines apply to minor children
brought to campus by students or visitors:

  • A child should not be left unattended while the parent or guardian is attending class or
    conducting any other business or social function on campus
  • Line of sight supervision by the parent or guardian is required at all times while on campus

Transporation Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor estimates the auto industry will have to fill 35,000 technician jobs each year through the end of the decade to keep up with demand. With increasing automobile computer sophistication, receiving training from a certified program is a must.
