This policy is to communicate the process South Central College will utilize to notify students, faculty, and staff who wish to participate in emergencies and weather closings at the institutions.
Purpose/Authority
This procedure applies to all South Central College employees, students, and visitors on campus.
Scope/Applicability
South Central College, with campuses in Faribault and North Mankato, utilizes a wireless emergency notification system for students, faculty, and staff called 'Star Alert.' The system uses text and email messaging to inform registrants of campus community emergencies.
Students, faculty, and staff’s South Central College email is automatically enrolled into the Star Alert system. To receive Start Alert notifications via text or personal emails, students, faculty, and staff must register and create an account at https://southcentral.bbcportal.com. Star Alert is only used in emergencies, emergency drills and weather closings. If the campus is experiencing an emergency, is closed, classes are canceled or postponed, or other critical information must be conveyed, it will be communicated via the Star Alert system.
