South Central College welcomes veterans, active-duty service members, Guard and Reserve, and military families. We provide personalized support to help you transition from military to college, navigate education benefits, and connect with campus and community resources.

Services Provided

  • Guidance on veterans' military education benefits, including: Post-9/11 GI Bill®, Montgomery GI Bill, Survivors & Dependent Educational Assistance, and Select Reserve, and Minnesota GI Bill.
  • Support for Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA), including branch-specific steps and required authorization to billing.
  • Enrollment and program planning for SCC; benefits can be used only for courses required by your program.
  • Credit for military experience.
  • Help with financial aid (FAFSA) and scholarship opportunities.
  • Referrals to academic support, tutoring, and disability services accommodations.
  • Active-duty call-up support (refunds, incompletes with time to finish, or earned grades when warranted).
  • Connections to employment, healthcare, mental health, family services, and county/state veteran resources.

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The college closes at noon on Fridays from mid-May to mid-August.

If you complete a Transfer Pathways program at South Central College and are admitted to a Minnesota State university, you will be guaranteed junior status and all 60 associate degree credits will count toward the related bachelor’s degree.
