Early Childhood Education (ECE) Transfer Pathway associate degrees (AS) are accepted at any Minnesota State university that offers a designated early childhood bachelor’s degree. The university guarantees that students transfer into the designated bachelor’s program with junior status and may complete the bachelor’s degree without losing credits or taking extra courses.

To complete the AS degree, students must complete 30 MnTC credits from 6 of the 10 MnTC goal areas. Courses should be taken with consultation from faculty or advisor. Options for the MNTC Goal areas below are included on the MNTC page

Required MnTC Goal Area 1 - Written Communication (1 Course): ENGL100 - Composition - is required

Required MnTC Goal Area 1 - Oral Communication (1 Course): Choose one COMM course. COMM 110 is recommended

Required MnTC Goal Area 3 - Natural Sciences Course with Lab (1 Course): Choose one course from MnTC Goal Area 3 (must include a lab). BIOL 100 is recommended.

Required MnTC Goal Area 4 - Mathematical/Logical Reasoning (1 Course): Choose one MATH course

Required MnTC Goal Area 5 - History and Social Sciences (2 Courses): Choose one MnTC Goal Area 5 course that begins with SOC and one that begins with PSYC

Required MnTC Goal Area 6 - Humanities and Fine Arts or MnTC Goal Area 8 - Global Perspective (1 Course): Choose one course from MNTC Goal Area 6 or 8

Required MnTC Goal Area 7 - Human Diversity (1 Course): Choose one course from MnTC Goal Area 7

Additional Arts and Sciences Courses (Total of 30 MnTC credits required for the degree): Select an additional 3 credits to fulfill the 60 credits required for graduation.
