As the most highly trained pre-hospital emergency care provider in the EMS field, the paramedic accepts the challenging responsibility for patient care. A willingness to accept this challenge and direct others to carry out treatment plans is the first step in becoming a paramedic.  Paramedicine is a relatively young field with a wide range of employment opportunities, including ambulance services, fire departments, police departments, hospitals, helicopter services and educational institutions.  The program is fully accredited by the The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP, 25400 US Highway 19 North, Suite 158, Clearwater, FL 33763 P:727-210-2350 Fax:727-210-2354).
