Surgical Technology Program

Surgical Technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile technique and combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, instrumentation tools, and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance.

The 2-year Surgical Technology program equips you to play a vital role in patient care and safety. As a surgical technologist, your duties involve: 

  • preparing patients for surgery
  • sterilizing instruments and supplies
  • actively participating in surgical procedures
  • managing pre and post-surgery cleanup

As part of the requirements to graduate, students must take the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists.

Program Start Date: Fall Semester

The Program Application Form will open on Wednesday, March 25,2026. Close Thursday, May 28,2026. Hear results on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The Surgical Technology Program at South Central College has a site visit scheduled to pursue initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org). This step in the process is neither a status of accreditation nor a guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
